Nottingham Forest wins a point against Burnley thanks to Callum Hudson-Odoi

Nottingham Forest secured a point against a 10-player Burnley team on Monday Night, thanks to the impressive debut goal of Callum Hudson-Odoi at the City Ground.

After conceding Zeki Amdouni’s exceptional strike just before halftime, Forest’s recent signing from Chelsea, who scored his last Premier League goal in October 2021, found the back of the net in spectacular fashion, denying Burnley their first victory of the season. Great one from Callum Hudson-Odoi!

Throughout the match filled with action and opportunities for both teams, it was Vincent Kompany’s side that will feel hard done by not scoring a winning goal. Lyle Foster had an effort controversially disallowed for handball after a VAR review. Foster was later sent off during stoppage time due to another incident.

For Burnley, this result will be seen as an opportunity missed. After suffering three consecutive home defeats against Manchester City, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur, they remain winless this season and currently sit in 19th place on the Premier League table. On the other hand, Nottingham Forest climbs up to eighth position.

Forest and Burnley settled for a contentious draw in their recent match. Burnley started strong, but Forest gradually gained momentum and posed a threat through players like Callum Hudson-Odoi and the in-form Taiwo Awoniyi. Hudson-Odoi tested James Trafford with a shot from outside the box, while Awoniyi and Morgan Gibbs-White continuously challenged Burnley’s defense. However, it was the visiting team that took the lead in the 41st minute.

After Amdouni had forced an impressive save from Matt Turner with his shot from outside the box, he ensured he wouldn’t be denied again before halftime. The skilled Luca Koleosho demonstrated his lightning-fast speed on the left flank as he bypassed Joe Worrall before delivering a cross that found its way to Amdouni. From just outside of the penalty area, Amdouni unleashed a powerful half-volley into the bottom corner of the net, leaving Turner helpless.

Interestingly enough, this wasn’t Amdouni’s first time scoring against Forest at City Ground within three weeks. He also scored a late winning goal for Burnley during their Carabao Cup second-round match at the end of August.
