According to information from Sky Sports News, the club’s intention is not to single out any particular official. They take issue with the way the PGMOL has characterized the events as “a significant human error,” which they feel unfairly places the entire breakdown in the application of the Laws of the Game on VAR referee Darren England alone.

It’s worth noting that three of the officials had officiated in the United Arab Emirates just 48 hours before the game, raising questions about their workload, fatigue, and the adequacy of their preparation.
