Tensions flared before halftime when Kai Havertz was booked for a reckless challenge on Sean Longstaff, and Bruno Guimaraes possibly escaped a red card for an off-the-ball forearm incident involving Jorginho.
After the match, Mikel Arteta expressed his displeasure with the officials, labeling the goal’s awarding as a “disgrace” and “embarrassing.”
On Sunday, Arsenal issued a statement in support of Arteta’s post-match comments, emphasizing the need for improved refereeing and VAR decisions.
