Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez, who are both currently injured, are not anticipated to make their return to the Manchester United squad until after Christmas, as confirmed by Erik ten Hag.
Casemiro suffered a hamstring injury during the recent 3-0 Carabao Cup loss to Newcastle, while Martinez is in the process of recovering from surgery to address a recurring foot issue. This situation implies that they might be sidelined for approximately 10 matches across various competitions.
Both the Brazilian and Argentine internationals were already part of United’s extended list of injured players, which includes Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw, and Amad Diallo. Jadon Sancho also remains unavailable due to disciplinary issues.
Speaking ahead of their upcoming Champions League fixture against FC Copenhagen, Ten Hag mentioned his injured players: “I do have some estimated timelines, but it’s always challenging to predict with certainty because they might encounter setbacks during their rehabilitation periods. Casemiro and Martinez have sustained significant injuries, and I do not foresee their return before the Christmas period.”
