Richarlison netted two goals as Spurs put an end to their five-game winless streak with an impressive 4-1 victory over top-four contenders Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
In his first start since October, Richarlison capitalized on a Heung-Min Son assist from close range for his first goal. He then secured his second goal of the game in the second half, courtesy of a well-placed pass from Pedro Porro.
🎙️ “I’m pleased for the lads, they got a reward for a strong performance. We were more effective in the front third and defensively we were outstanding.”

Earlier in the match, defender Destiny Udogie gave Spurs the lead by converting another left-wing delivery from Son. Later on, Son himself added a fourth goal to Tottenham’s tally from the penalty spot after being fouled by Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.
Despite having relinquished leads in their previous five games, Tottenham never looked like they would falter this time around. Joelinton’s late consolation goal was inconsequential as injury-plagued Newcastle suffered their second heavy defeat within three days following their 3-0 loss against Everton.
Spurs’ victory maintains their position within three points of the top four teams and gives them a three-point lead over sixth-placed Manchester United. On the other hand, Newcastle now finds themselves seven points behind fourth place, sitting in seventh position.
