Harry Maguire left the field after seeming to suffer a groin injury during the first half of Manchester United’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich, with Luke Shaw also being substituted at half-time with an injury.
Maguire limped from the field after pulling up in some discomfort, holding his groin.
The 30-year-old, who had seemed to fall awkwardly sliding to clear a previous ball into the penalty area, received some treatment on the side of the pitch and managed to play on for several minutes before he was substituted for Jonny Evans.
Maguire was forced off in the first half of final UEFA Champions League Group A game against Bayern Munich, which ended in a 1-0 loss to the Germans.
The reigning Premier League Player of the Month has been in excellent form of late, since winning his place back in the side.
The defender had done well again, performing with confidence, but pulled up with what looked like an issue with his groin, in the 38th minute. As he held off Jamal Musiala, he winced in pain as play was halted.
After receiving treatment, Maguire tried to give it a go but was, almost instantly, forced to admit defeat and left the field, saluting the supporters who offered him a warm ovation.
In addition to Maguire’s premature exit, fellow defender Luke Shaw failed to reappear at the start of the second half. He appeared to be in some discomfort towards the end of the first 45 minutes and was spotted looking over towards the bench, presumably to try and inform them of a problem.
Though the extent of the injury is not yet clear, United will be hoping that the two will not be sidelined for too long.
