Barcelona suffered a blow Yesterday when Joao Cancelo picked up an injury against Las Palmas and was forced off.
The Portugal international only lasted 10 minutes of the game when he had to go off and was replaced by Andreas Christensen. Cancelo had tried to continue but was unable.
The defender picked up the injury in a collision with Maximo Perrone where he appeared to injure his knee and did reappear with some strapping.
However, he went down again minutes later and ended up being helped off the pitch by Raphinha.
It’s too early to tell how serious Cancelo’s injury is, but Barcelona will be desperate for good news ahead of an important schedule of fixtures.
The 29-year-old has been one of their best performers since joining on loan from Manchester City in September, but he could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
To make matters worse, Las Palmas then went on to open the scoring almost instantly. Former Barcelona forward Munir broke the deadlock to make it 1-0 to the hosts.
We’ll have to wait and see how long Cancelo will be out for, but it’s another defensive problem that Xavi could do without right now.
