Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp emphasizes that the team should never underestimate their achievements after securing a place in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea by defeating Fulham.
With a 2-1 lead from the first leg, Liverpool managed to secure a draw at Craven Cottage, which was enough to seal their spot in the final at Wembley on February 25th.
Liverpool took an early lead through Luis Diaz, who skillfully controlled Jarell Quansah’s diagonal pass, cut inside, and beat Bernd Leno with a deflected shot. Although Marco Silva’s Fulham had good attacking moments and deservedly equalized through Issa Diop’s bundled finish from Harry Wilson’s deflected cross, they couldn’t find another goal to force extra time.

The young Cottagers pushed hard for a second goal but were unable to break down Liverpool’s defense. Despite this disappointment, Fulham will continue to wait for their first EFL Cup final appearance.
Klopp expressed his joy after the match stating that it was evident in the dressing room where everyone was celebrating. He also highlighted how special it is for Liverpool to come away with victory from such tough encounters like this one against Fulham. The manager emphasized that these accomplishments should never be taken for granted.
Looking ahead to the final at Wembley Stadium, Klopp acknowledged that it will be an electric atmosphere with both sets of fans (blue and red) filling up the stadium seats. Overall, Liverpool recognizes and appreciates their journey thus far but remains cautious not to become complacent as they prepare for their upcoming challenge against Chelsea in hopes of lifting yet another trophy.
“After thirty minutes, we eased off the accelerator and the situation became more relaxed. Our goal was to successfully reach the finish line, and we are eagerly anticipating our upcoming match at Wembley.” – said Klopp.
Both teams will be competing in the FA Cup fourth-round this weekend. On Saturday, Fulham will be hosting Newcastle while Liverpool will be playing at home against Norwich on Sunday.
Chelsea secured their spot at Wembley on Tuesday after a remarkable 6-1 victory over Middlesbrough, a Championship club who had won the first leg 1-0.
