Mary Moraa frustrated by slow start to her season

Mary Moraa was dissatisfied with the time she clocked as she opened her season at the third Athletics Kenya Meet.

Reigning world 800m champion Mary Moraa is not satisfied with the time she set at the third Athletics Kenya weekend meet.

She opened her season and was competing against other young and talented runners in the 400m.

She clocked an astonishing 51.97 to cross the finish line ahead of Millicent Ndoro and Damaris Mutunga who finished second and third in respective times of 52.74 and 53.41.

However, Moraa is not satisfied with her time and she will be going back to the drawing board ahead of her next assignment. Moraa will also be gearing up for the next Athletics Kenya weekend meet scheduled for April in Kisii.

“I’m not yet satisfied with my time and I’m going to work on my speed and maybe in the next weekend meeting, I’ll run a lower time than this,” Moraa said after the final of the race.

She added that competing in the 400m was necessary for gauging her speed and seeing how her body was responding after some light training.

Moraa will be eyeing her maiden appearance at the Paris Olympic Games but her outing will not be easy with the presence of Keely Hodgkinson and Athing Mu, her greatest track rivals.

However, her coach remains unfazed by their presence and he explained that his focus is solely on Moraa and he will be out to ensure ‘Kisii Express’ improves her times.
