Manchester City came out victorious in a hard-fought match against Brentford, thanks to Erling Haaland’s winning goal.
With just 19 minutes left on the clock, Haaland sealed the deal and brought City within one point of the top of the Premier League table.
The game started off as a frustrating affair for Pep Guardiola’s team at Etihad Stadium. However, luck finally turned in their favor when Brentford defender Kristoffer Ajer stumbled while trying to control Julian Alvarez’s pass into their half. This slip-up allowed Haaland to swiftly dart past Ajer and capitalize on the opportunity.

Haaland displayed composure and precision as he confidently struck the ball past Mark Flekken, securing his 22nd goal of the season. Notably, this goal also meant that Haaland has now scored against every opponent he has faced in the Premier League.
This victory propelled City into second place ahead of Arsenal and kept them firmly in contention for an unprecedented fourth consecutive title. Their fate still hangs in balance as they prepare for a crucial clash against league leaders Liverpool on March 10th.
While it cannot be denied that City deserved their win given their dominance throughout the game, Brentford should not be disheartened by this result. Thomas Frank’s team demonstrated far greater organization compared to their heavy defeat against Liverpool over the weekend.
Despite earning six points in their previous 11 games, they are perilously close to the relegation zone and are still striving to achieve consistent progress that will help them avoid any further complications.
