In a thrilling match at Anfield, Liverpool and Manchester City played to a draw, leaving Arsenal at the top of the Premier League standings.

Manchester City took the lead in the 23rd minute through a well-executed corner routine. John Stones capitalized on Kevin de Bruyne’s delivery and found the back of the net from close range. It was a deserved advantage for City, but their joy was short-lived as Liverpool equalized just 84 seconds into the second half.

Darwin Nunez intercepted Nathan Ake’s poor backpass and was brought down by goalkeeper Ederson inside the box, resulting in a penalty. Alexis Mac Allister successfully converted from the spot after a brief delay caused by Ederson’s injury.
Despite attempting to play on initially while facing the penalty kick, Ederson was unable to continue due to his injury. He was substituted by Stefan Ortega as Liverpool started exerting their dominance in front of their passionate Anfield crowd. Luis Diaz had an excellent opportunity to put Liverpool ahead when he found himself one-on-one with substitute Mohamed Salah but failed to convert his chance. Ortega also made a crucial block from Nunez later in the game.

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher made crucial saves to deny Manchester City, including a block from Foden and a fortunate punch from Ake’s cross that rebounded off Foden and hit the bar. Towards the end of the game, Jeremy Doku struck the post for City. Liverpool had their own claim for a penalty when Doku’s foot was high on Mac Allister in stoppage time, but the referee waved play on. Despite both teams’ efforts, they couldn’t be separated on this occasion. As things stand, Arsenal currently have an advantage in the title race.
