Scotland’s full-back, Andy Robertson, is set to return to Liverpool after sustaining a suspected dislocated shoulder during Thursday’s 2-0 loss to Spain in Seville.
Robertson suffered the injury during the first half of the Euro 2024 Qualifier after a 50-50 challenge with Spain’s goalkeeper, Unai Simon. He received treatment from Scotland’s medical staff but had to leave the pitch just before half-time.
The 29-year-old left the field with his arm in an improvised sling, and Everton’s Nathan Patterson stepped in as his replacement.
Following the game, Scotland manager Steve Clarke commented, “We’ll assess the situation, and he will return to his club now. It always seems to happen when you lose one player in a position. We lose Kieran [Tierney], then Andy picks up a shoulder injury. We’ll see how it is and how it settles down. Hopefully, he’ll be fit for his club as soon as possible and ready to help us in November.”
This development will be a source of significant concern for Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool prepares to face Everton in the Merseyside derby on October 21. Robertson has been a constant presence for the Reds this season.
