Barcelona beat Osasuna at Spanish Super Cup semi-final

Barcelona emerged victorious against Osasuna in Saudi Arabia, securing their place in the Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid on Sunday.

After a goalless first half, Robert Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the 59th minute by slotting the ball into the net following a precise pass from Ilkay Gundogan.

Both Andreas Christensen and Lewandowski had earlier attempts saved by Sergio Herrera, while Ante Budimir missed a clear opportunity for Osasuna.

In added time, Lamine Yamal sealed Barcelona’s victory with their second goal of the match.

With this win, Barcelona has now clinched the Spanish Super Cup title an impressive 14 times. They now face Real Madrid – current leaders of La Liga – as they aim for their 15th triumph in this prestigious competition.

The tournament brings together last season’s top three teams from La Liga: champions Barcelona, runners-up Real Madrid, and third-placed Atletico Madrid. Additionally, Osasuna also participated after losing to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final.

All matches are being held at Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. This match was part of a series of three games taking place during this eventful week.

On Wednesday’s thrilling encounter between Atletico and Real Madrid saw Dani Carvajal equalize five minutes before full time to make it 3-3 and force extra time. Eventually, goals from Joselu and Brahim Diaz secured a sensational 5-3 victory for Real Madrid.
