Bernardo Silva has extended his contract with Manchester City, committing to the club until 2026.
Having made the switch from Monaco to Man City in 2017, Silva’s trophy cabinet consists of five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, and the prestigious Champions League trophy.
In a statement regarding his decision to stay, Silva highlighted that the extension offers him the exciting prospect of continuing his winning trajectory.
The Portugal attacking midfielder says he is staying put at City because it “gives me that opportunity to keep winning”.
“I’ve had six incredible years at Manchester City and I’m delighted to extend my time here,” Silva, who had been attracting interest from Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain this summer, said.
Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, lauded Silva’s transformation into one of the world’s best players during his time at City. He expressed confidence that the 29-year-old’s contributions will play a pivotal role in guiding the club towards further accomplishments in the future.
“Bernardo has been exceptional during his time at the Etihad, so we’re delighted that he has signed a contract extension with the club,” Begiristain said.
