Manchester United will face Sheffield United on Saturday Night Football without Casemiro due to an ankle injury he sustained while playing for Brazil.
During a 1-1 draw with Venezuela, Casemiro was substituted 11 minutes before the end of the match. On the club’s recommendation, he has stayed in Brazil to facilitate his recovery. Although he will be absent for the Bramall Lane fixture, which will be broadcast on Sky Sports, Casemiro is expected to return to Carrington for training early next week.
However, his suspension will prevent him from participating in the midweek Champions League match against FC Copenhagen at Old Trafford. He received a red card in a previous match against Galatasaray.
Casemiro, who also serves as the national team captain, requested to be substituted in the game against Venezuela due to an ankle injury. Brazil manager Fernando Diniz confirmed, “He asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle.”
Casemiro’s absence adds to Manchester United’s growing list of injuries. On a positive note, Sergio Reguilon and Sofyan Amrabat trained with the squad on Thursday. Reguilon had missed the last four matches due to a minor injury, while Amrabat was absent from Morocco’s games against Liberia and Ivory Coast.
