Enzo Fernandez, who joined Chelsea as their most expensive signing just a year ago, is reportedly considering leaving Stamford Bridge.
Despite his impressive achievements, such as helping Argentina win their first World Cup title since 1986 and being named the tournament’s young player of the year, Fernandez has struggled to justify his hefty price tag during his short tenure at the club.
However, this cannot be solely attributed to him. Mauricio Pochettino frequently deploys him in a more advanced position than he is accustomed to playing for Argentina or when he was with Benfica and River Plate.

Surprisingly, it seems that Fernandez’s agents have already started exploring other opportunities for him outside of Chelsea. According to FootballTransfers, Uriel Perez—the 23-year-old midfielder’s agent—has initiated discussions with other clubs regarding a potential summer transfer move. This news may come as a surprise to many considering the relatively brief period Fernandez has spent at Chelsea.
Overall, it appears that Enzo Fernandez is open to parting ways with Chelsea after just one season. Despite initially having high expectations placed upon him due to his impressive track record and substantial transfer fee, circumstances surrounding positional deployment seem to have hindered his ability to fully showcase his talent at Stamford Bridge thus far.

It is unclear whether Fernandez has personally directed his representatives to seek a transfer for him.
However, there may be an obstacle in the form of the length of his contract. Chelsea recently exercised a one-year extension option, which means he is now contracted until 2032. In addition to that, considering that Chelsea will likely want to recoup most of their initial investment, potential interested parties may be limited in number and hard to find.
