Following his transfer from Swedish club AIK to Polish champions Rakow Czestochowa, Kenyan international Erick ‘Marcelo’ Ouma commanded a significant transfer fee and salary.
On Thursday, the Kenyan defender was sold for more than Ksh150 million as he embarked on a new chapter in his career with the Polish club.
With speculation surrounding his future put to rest, Ouma signed a two-year contract with an option for additional years. His impressive performances at AIK attracted interest from various European clubs, leading to the agreement for his sale in December. According to reports in the Swedish press, Rakow Czestochowa outbid other suitors and secured Ouma’s signature.

AIK is said to have received around 10 million Swedish Krona (equivalent to Ksh156,674,156) as part of the transfer fee. Additionally, Ouma has been offered a salary close to $10,000 (around Ksh1,606865), while his former club Vasalund will receive 30 percent of the transfer fee.
The move marks an exciting milestone in Ouma’s career as he joins forces with Rakow Czestochowa and aims to make an impact on their success in Poland.

After relocating to Poland, AIK provided an explanation of how they categorized Ouma’s transfer and also outlined the financial details involved. Ouma became a part of AIK in 2020 after playing for another Swedish club called Vasalund.
During his time with AIK, he played in 104 matches, scoring four goals and assisting in 15 others. The Kenyan national expressed his confidence in adapting quickly to life in Poland, stating that he required no persuasion to join Czestochowa.
