Spain’s 16-year-old Lamine Yamal scored his second international goal as his already qualified side beat Cyprus in Euro 2024 qualifying.
The Barcelona player became Spain’s youngest player and scorer in a 7-1 qualifying win against Georgia in September.
Yesterday, he rounded the goalkeeper before slamming home an early opener after a 22-pass move against Cyprus.
Despite Spain having already qualified for Euro 2024, the victory could potentially be pivotal as La Roja are fighting it out with Scotland to win their group and secure a position as a top seed for next summer’s tournament.
Spain are now two points clear of their rivals with one group game to go.
Yamal is an explosive winger and he featured on the right side of attack yesterday and his goal opened the scoring.
He has also added three assists and scored one goal this season for Barcelona, and has now netted twice in just three international caps.
Spain reached 18 points with one match remaining, leading by two points ahead of second-placed Scotland, who have also secured qualification but had to settle for a 2-2 draw with Georgia.
