Leandro Trossard secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park, ending their run of five games without a victory.
Leandro Trossard, who replaced the injured Gabriel Martinelli in the first half, scored the winning goal with a first-time finish off Bukayo Saka’s pass after a well-executed corner.
The game was not without controversy as Martinelli had a goal disallowed in the first half. VAR ruled Eddie Nketiah to be marginally offside earlier in the passage of play, despite receiving the ball via an unintentional deflection off Everton’s Beto. According to PGMOL rules, for a deflection to be valid, it must be deliberate and require control of the ball by the player involved. In this case, Beto was deemed not to have control.
Despite this setback, Arsenal persisted with their attacking efforts and eventually found success through Trossard’s goal – his first in the Premier League this season. The victory propelled Arsenal up to fourth place while extending Everton’s winless start to their campaign at Goodison Park.
💬 "I am delighted for the win but especially the way we won it, the way we played, how dominant we were."
