Marcus Rashford disciplined by manager Erik ten Hag

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford faced internal disciplinary action from manager Erik ten Hag after he called in sick for training on Friday.

It was alleged that Rashford had been partying in Belfast until the early hours of Thursday.

According to a report by the Sun, the England player was seen drinking on Thursday before flying back to Manchester in a private jet and missing training. In response, United released a statement on Monday night stating that they had dealt with the incident internally as a disciplinary matter.

As a consequence of his actions, Rashford was left out of Sunday’s 4-2 FA Cup victory against Newport County. Following this decision, Rashford and his agent-brother Dwaine Maynard were photographed arriving at Carrington training base for discussions with Ten Hag.

The statement issued by Manchester United clarified that Marcus had taken responsibility for his behavior and that the internal disciplinary matter has now been resolved and closed.

It is not clear whether he has received any fines or faced disciplinary action. Manchester United has stated that Rashford will be available for their Premier League match against Wolves on Thursday.

Ten Hag, in an effort to resolve the issue promptly, took immediate action after his disagreement with Jadon Sancho in September regarding Sancho’s exclusion from the loss against Arsenal. This resulted in the forward not playing under Ten Hag again before his loan move to Borussia Dortmund this month.

Rashford cited illness as the reason for missing United’s training session at Carrington on Friday. This came after images surfaced showing him allegedly at a nightclub in Belfast, Northern Ireland. According to The Sun’s report, Rashford was seen drinking and eventually went to bed just before 3am.

On Wednesday, Rashford made a trip to Northern Ireland to see his former teammate from Manchester United’s youth team, Ro-Shaun Williams. Williams is now playing for the domestic champions, Larne.
