Mohamed Salah back to Liverpool for injury treatment

The Egyptian Football Association has officially announced that Mohamed Salah will be making his way back to Liverpool from the AFCON in order to receive treatment for a muscle injury he sustained during a match against Ghana.

According to an update, it is expected that Salah will miss Egypt’s next two matches if they advance to the knockout stages of the tournament being held in the Ivory Coast. Following Egypt’s final Group B game against Cape Verde on Monday night, Salah will be returning to Merseyside.

On Sunday, the Egyptian FA released a statement stating: “After conducting further examinations on Mohamed Salah and communicating with Liverpool FC’s medical staff, it has been decided that he will return to England after tomorrow’s match against Cape Verde in order to complete his treatment. There is hope that he will rejoin the national team for the semi-finals of AFCON if we qualify.”

It is clear that Salah’s health and recovery are paramount, leading him back home for necessary medical attention. Despite this setback, there remains optimism regarding his potential return later in the tournament should Egypt progress beyond their group stage.
