Sheffield United is expected to fire Paul Heckingbottom on Monday, with talks underway to have Chris Wilder replace him.
The Blades suffered a devastating loss in a crucial Premier League relegation battle against Burnley, where they were defeated 5-0 under the leadership of Vincent Kompany. This defeat marked their eleventh loss of the season, having only managed one victory out of 14 matches played thus far.

Following this defeat and being overtaken by Burnley in the league standings, Sheffield United now finds themselves at the bottom of the table. Their next match will be against Liverpool at Bramall Lane on Wednesday.
Paul Heckingbottom was appointed as head coach at Bramall Lane in November 2021 and successfully led Sheffield United back to the top flight after finishing second in last season’s Championship.
Meanwhile, former Blades boss Chris Wilder is currently without a job following his short-term contract expiration at Watford.
After suffering a 5-0 defeat on Saturday, Heckingbottom expressed that Sheffield United is facing the consequences of their summer transfer window decisions. While Burnley, who were promoted as Championship winners last season, spent over £90m in signings during the summer, things were very different at Bramall Lane. Key players like Iliman Ndiaye and Sander Berge were sold, with Berge even joining Burnley. Unfortunately, Heckingbottom was only able to make limited investments to replace them.
