Pepe leaves Arsenal and goes to Trabzonspor in Turkey

Nicolas Pepe, Arsenal’s former record signing, has made a move to Trabzonspor in Turkey on a free transfer.

This marks the end of his rather disappointing four-year tenure at the Emirates Stadium.

Back in 2019, Arsenal splashed out £72m to acquire the services of this Ivory Coast winger from Lille. During his time with the Gunners, Pepe managed to score 27 goals across 112 games. Last season saw him spend some time on loan at Nice in France.

Unfortunately for Pepe, he hasn’t been able to secure a spot in any of Arsenal’s matchday squads this season. With just one year remaining on his contract with the club and following West Ham’s acquisition of Declan Rice for an astounding fee of £100m this summer, Pepe is no longer their record signing.

Trabzonspor currently sits seventh in the Turkish Super Lig. In a video shared via their Twitter account, Pepe expressed his aspirations stating,” I have come here with dreams of becoming a champion and achieving success.”
