Former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama has made fun of Andy Mitten, the editor of the acclaimed “United We Stand” magazine after he shared a photo of himself after finishing a race.
In a post on his X (Twitter), the famous author and journalist said: “A second 10k race in a year. 47 mins 21. Didn’t win, but if any Kenyans want a bit, don’t be shy.”
Wanyama, the defensive midfielder for Major League Soccer club CF Montréal, replied to his post, jokingly encouraging him to focus on journalism and leave athletics for Kenyans.
In his reply message, Wanyama jokingly said: “Sorry Andy, please stick to journalism, running is bread and butter for Kenyans.”
The diehard Manchester United fan replied to Wanyama saying: “Fuelled by a bowl of your very nice spaghetti, I’d race you across the Maasai Mara and let my legs do the talking.”
Another X user commented on Mitten’s photo commending him for a good job and promising to join him during the next competition.
“Pleased that the photographer did a good job. Congrats and looking forward to seeing you at the 1/2 marathon,” he said.
Another user was also in awe of Mitten’s devotion and commented saying: “Always get a shock when I wake up on a Sunday morning in Barcelona and see hundreds of runners on the streets instead of cars. It’s a great atmosphere.”
