After just three months as Napoli’s manager, Walter Mazzarri has been dismissed and replaced by Francesco Calzona, the current Slovakia boss.
Mazzarri took over from Rudy Garcia in November but leaves with Napoli sitting in ninth place in Serie A standings. According to reports from Italy, Calzona has signed a contract until the end of the season and will continue to lead Slovakia.

Aurelio de Laurentiis, the owner of Napoli, expressed his gratitude to Mazzarri for his assistance during a challenging period for the team. On Wednesday, Napoli will face Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 matchup.

Calzona was appointed as Slovakia’s boss in August 2022 and played an instrumental role in helping them qualify for this summer’s European Championship held in Germany. Prior to his current position, he served as an assistant at Napoli under both Maurizio Sarri and Luciano Spalletti.
