Kenyan boxer, Daniel Wanyonyi finally achieved his win over Tanzanian boxer, Karim Mandonga in a highly anticipated fight held on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
The 40-year-old Wanyonyi, with a record of 29 wins, 15 losses, and 2 draws, secured a victory in the rematch against Mandonga, famously known as “Madonga mtu kazi”.
Before this rematch,Wanyonyi had promised to win over Mandonga in the first two rounds. In their previous encounter in January, Mandonga had defeated Wanyonyi by knocking him out in the fifth round.
The fight was highly anticipated, given that Mandonga had won the first round in January. The 39-year-old had promised to beat Wanyonyi again.
However, the Kenyan reigned supreme ended up knocking out Mandonga in the 6th and 10th rounds. The tie was called in favour of Wanyonyi via a unanimous decision from the judges.
With the tie now evenly poised, the boxers have now urged promoters to organise a third face-off to determine who is the better boxer.
